I joined Reify Health to help improve the forefront of medicine. Healthcare has many distorted and broken facets that lead to less focus on the most important parts, patient care. At Reify, I work with cross-functional teams to design, develop and deliver valuable product for Clinical Researchg professionals. As Head of Design, it is my responsibility to ensure we have a high bar of design quality and user experience. So, we develop systems to achieve that quality and consistency across our product. I also am building a team of super talented designers with an aptitude for working closely with engeneers, writing code and making a world-class product with real human beings at the receiving end.

I joined Eligible as a Senior Design Engineer to take on making healthcare billing an easier process. Eligible has an API that integrates with thousands of insurance companies electronically to specifically focus on patient eligibility, cost estimation and claims submission. Here I have designed and built our initial design-system for implementing various testing and admin tools in our account interface as well as helped to build single-page JavaScript plugin interfaces. I have worked remotely and asynchronously with a team of people all over the world.

I joined Relevance to be a designer in a startup incubator they were creating. The project was short lived, but I stayed on as lead designer on the consulting arm of the business and later became the Creative Director. I hired designers, stewarded our company brand, focused on minimizing the friction between design and engineering, and juggled multiple consulting projects at a time.

Relevance became Cognitect in 2013. We went from being a polyglot programming shop with roots in Java, Ruby/Rails, Clojure and JavaScript to focusing on being a consulting and product company focusing on solving problems with all Clojure and Datomic. I helped to design new ways to build software while focusing on making sense of hard information problems through data visualization and building interfaces to easily ask questions about information in a system. We made frameworks to take advantage of ClojureScript to make single page JavaScript applications that talked to Clojure web services.

I joined Ecommerce, Inc to design several web hosting brand’s marketing websites. It was when I was tasked with designing our product ordering wizard that I discovered that I had a real interest in making potentially complex processes easy to use and understand. Later, when the company decided that they wanted to design and build their own web hosting control panel, I designed parts of the system like Installing SSL certificates, setting up domains and subdomains, email account management and DNS admin interfaces. The control panel was a year long project and I found it both super fun and challenging.
